While fleece is the prefered material for sugar glider pouches due to the fact that it does not fray, flannel is also a nice choice. It is snuggly soft, and cooler for the summer months. Care needs to be taken though with flannel pouches. While you should check ALL pouches every day for wear and tear (and even the BEST pouches will wear out) you need to be especially dedicated to checking when you use flannel, and even more so if you have a sugar glider that you know chews on their pouch. If the material tears, it can fray, and threads can get wraped around little toes. That being said, I have, to date, used flannel pouches for over 2 years with never a problem! In fact, my little Arwen prefers flannel and she is the one that got me to using it, because she always made a beeline for my flannel blankets!
