Introducing the yummiest mealworms!
Mealworms are a popular treat among sugar glider owners. I personally prefer crickets, as does my Arwen. But mealworms are nice too and I like to offer a variety of foods. I just can't do the live bug thing so have tried the "freeze dried" mealworm instead. She wouldnt eat them. Sometimes she would happily grab it, take one bite and then fling it. Most of the time she would sniff it and not even grab it. It is eerie how the freeze dried ones look and smell just like live ones. They even slide around in the container the same way and they almost look like they are moving on their own. It's creepy. Well when my little girl made it very clear she did NOT like them, I looked to another source.
The mealworms I am offering here are DRY ROASTED, not freeze dried. They are "cooked". My Arwen LOVES them. They have a scent similar to roasted nuts. I don't know what they taste like, but all my gliders go crazy over them. They make a nice foraging snack too as the scent really encourages the sugar gliders to look hard for them (and YOU dont have to worry they will crawl away!)
I even made a video showing how Arwen prefers these over other mealworms. You can check it out here: Mealworm taste test video.
