We love feeding treats to our sugar gliders as much as the sugar gliders love to eat them! I am constantly trying to find new and healthier treats for my sugar gliders.
Chicken and crickets are always favored treats by my sugar gliders. But crickets and chiken BOTH have a calcium to phosphorous ratio of .08:1.
My new "Chicken Crickets" treats for Sugar Gliders
have a ratio better than .46:1!
While not the optimum ratio, a much healthier ratio than both chicken or crickets. I say "better than" as the booster milk and acacia gum are not figured out in the analysis, as I do not have complete information of the nutritional aspect of those 2 ingredients. Due to the process of how they are made, you can even store them without refigeration and not worry about them going bad, so they are good for travel. Although I do recommend popping them in the freezer if being stored for an extended period of time. They are quite crunchy, which my sugar gliders seem to enjoy. If your sugar gliders dont like the crunchy texture you can soften them with a bit of warm water.
Some sugar gliders dont take to new treats and foods right away, so dont give up if they dont like them the first time. Most of us that have shared our lives with sugar gliders also know they can be quite fickle with their foods, liking a treat or food one night and not the next, then liking it again.
While I don't want to share the recipe with you, I know I should share the ingredients: Chicken, papaya, natural and organic maple syrup, acacia gum, bee pollen, Brisky's Booster Milk, bonemeal.
