Sugar Gliders LOVE pouches! In the wild sugar
gliders live in holes in trees that they fill and make comfy with dried
leaves and such. In the home how can we provide them with this? A
nice alternative is nesting boxes. The problem with wooden nesting
boxes is they WILL start to smell from urine and marking and you cannot
just throw them in the washing machine! So a nice easily washed
alternative in a "pouch". They seem to take readily to pouches as
well, perhaps because they were carried in a pouch by their mom!
What kind of pouch do you need? Every sugar glider needs a "nest" in its cage for sleeping, so a pouch is a great way to provide that! There should be AT LEAST one cage pouch PER GLIDER in each cage. The extra is needed in case they "sqabble" and want to be left alone for a night.
Then there is the bonding pouch (or traveling pouch) for carrying them around with you. There are many variations of bonding pouches made by many different people. You just need to pick a style pouch that not only YOU like, but your SUGAR GLIDERS like as well! I make a "buddy bag" pouch for carrying muliple gliders, and the "Bosom Buddy Bra Pouch" for more discreet carrying of your little furry buddy. I also make the original "Bra" pouch for men (2 styles to choose from too!).
